About the Wellington weather graphic

The weather graphic shows a Vespa on a Wellington city street. You may see clouds or puddles or shadows or stars. These features based on the time of day and weather conditions change continually. What's more, the changes are synchronised with the actual time and weather conditions experienced in Wellington, based on information fed from The Weather Channel.

For the technically minded, the graphic is created using information fed from The Weather Channel in XML and combining different graphic elements to provide over 500 combinations to represent changing conditions. The data used to create the variations of the graphic includes:

• The time of day
• Cloud conditions
• Precipitation (rain, drizzle, fog etc)
• Wind
• Moon phases

There are also a few secret pictures thrown into the mix ...
